About Karamana Grama Samudayam Religious and Charitable Society

Who We Are

Karamana Grama Samudayam is and association of Tamil Brahmins which has a tradition of more than 100 years with proper rules and guidelines from 1082M.E(Malayalam Year).  Our ancestors have made Byelaw rules and guidelines for the Tamil Brahmin Community's upliftment and for the proper up keep of Temple and its ancestral properties in the Malayalam year 1082 itself. This Rules and guildlines has gone through years and has been changed as and when required.

But till date the Samudayam was not been properly registered with the Government Authorities. This was an hindrance for the Samudayam for getting support for useful activities. As an association and a communal organisation it is beneficial in many cases for us the get the proper government support. We had the details checked with legal experts and their opinion also was to get the samudayam registered. Clinging to the legal aspects it can be interpreted as far as we are backing from this matter any one who claims to be part of Samudayam or group saying that he/they are the samudayam can take over the samudayam and its assets and even the samudayam in a whole may not take any action as far as legal aspects is concerned. The improper handling of  the Samudayam properties and assets has affected the Samudayam very dearly. The earlier Samudayam which was in possession of vast areas of land has now been
limited to a number of properties. To secure the Samudayam and its present assets a drastic measure was inevitable.

Taking the necessary steps in proper the Samudayam committee from 2009 to 2012 have taken the decision and has consulted legal expert for the process and the process was not completed during their period and the next committee(2012-2015) which had taken charge was willing to complete the process.

Proper legal discussions for formulation of Byelaw for the Organization and guidelines for the proper functioning where been prepared by the then committee, so that the process for completion of the registration can be started. But the committee was not able to complete the process due to lack of time and the same was properly been asked to be completed by the next governing body

As the Executive Body wanted the matter to be done properly, effort was taken to get the Samudayam registered at the earliest. The above said Byelaw (1082 M.E) and guidelines with utmost importance were taken into account when preparing the New Byelaw and guidelines for Registration Purpose. As a Samudayam we have been following democratic way of approach for electing the members of the Samudayam Committee. It was decided to Register the Samudayam
under "Travancore Cochin Literary Scientific and Charitable Societies Act of 1955" and the same was taken up with the general committee for sanction. After proper discussion the committee had approved the decision for Registration of Samudayam and asked the Executive decision to be made at the earliest. A ten member committee was constituted from the Executive as  well from general members for Registration purpose. Initial Hindrances have also taken place in the path for registering the Samudayam.  As we have Temple and related properties the authorities wanted the registration to be done on Trusts Act. Keeping our democratic way of functioning it was not an option in the way and committee ruled out the same and struck strictly to get it registered under the Societies Act to transfer of power to the next office bearers in future.

Our Samudayam got registered with Registration Authorities as a Religious and Charitable Society as on 24-06-2016. It was mandatory for the Samudayam to have a proper and up to date accounting system and efforts were taken in that way to do the needful. While preparing the Byelaw and guidelines of the Society some changes may have occurred when keeping with prevailing rules of the Societies Registration Act.
